@hairunruled, in partnership with @Gerber, will be hosting a nationwide sweepstakes where parents-to-be may enter to win free doula services. Five moms will be randomly selected to win up to $2,000 in doula services! The sweepstakes launches today, the beginning of Black Breastfeeding week, August 25th. The deadline for the sweeps is September 24th at midnight EST. The sweepstakes is part of a larger project called “Overdue, a Birthing Guide for Us,” which was created in response to the Black maternal mortality crisis (Black women are 3x more likely to die from birth-related complications). We’d love for EVERY expecting parent to have a doula but that isn’t possible yet, so Unruly created a resource so that as many birthing parents as possible can at least receive the information a doula would provide. They have 12 videos that guide you from pregnancy, birth and through postpartum. And a theme across the videos is advocating for yourself, especially as a Black woman who might experience medical bias.
