Venezuelan cholent! This shabbos meat and rice overnight stew has become a staple in my house, so I no longer hook up my crockpot and simply make this on a weekly basis. Sadly, the end result is unearned at the shabbos meal but trust me when I tell you to try this instead of your run of the mill ashky cholent one week and get back to me on how well received it was. Sauté one pack of flanken and marrow bones in a T of olive oil, add 1 large diced onion and 2 T minced garlic. Season with salt pepper and add 1/2 tsp schug (hot pepper paste). Add 1 cup long grain rice to the pot and add 3 cups chicken stock, covering the ingredients. Place in oven (mine is set at 175) overnight and serve the next day.
