Hand 🤚 foot 🦶 hand 🤚 foot 🦶 ‼️ Getting on and off the equipment is one of the most important things you’ll learn in Pilates. 💯 ✨ Put your feet where you want them to end up. The fewer steps you take, the less chance you have of slipping or tripping. ✨ Place your hand on the footbar before stepping up. I learned and teach “hand foot hand foot.” (Later on in Side Splits for instance, you will have to step up without hands, but you’ll learn a method for doing that safely as well.) ✨Never leave a reformer without springs because if someone doesn’t realize, and tries to mount, it can slip out from under them. ✨ Take the time to learn the transitions on classical equipment. Everything is done for a reason, and it’s all part of the work. ✨ The “order” of exercises is there for a reason. You build upon skills you master. The sequencing ensures you have the foundation to you need to add in more dynamic exercises safely. Teachers take extra time to teach you the proper way to transition, not just because we are control freaks, but for safety! I keep seeing videos online of people absolutely eating it on the reformer. 😱😥 Honestly, it looks like they found a reformer on the side of the street and decided to see what it could do… I am not sure if they actually got instruction on it, or just got really bad instruction… but that is NOT how you use that thing. 🫣 Remember, Pilates is not a regulated industry. ANYONE can teach, and ANYONE can “teach” teachers. If you are going to take a lesson, do your research on the teacher and their training program.
