I am writing this while sitting on a hospital bed receiving a course of intravenous antibiotics for a complicated UTI infection. At registration yesterday, the staff made a comment, “Oh we do have your last record here. It was in 2006.” “Yes”, I replied. “That was my son’s birth, 17 years ago!” It’s been 17 years since I had been admitted to hospital for a natural delivery, only to be wheeled into the emergency theatre 4 hours after giving birth. I remember shaking terribly, trembling and also fading out as I was wheeled into the OT. My world was out of control. I am thankful the doctor managed to stop the bleeding with stitching and blood transfusion. I had lost about 30% of blood from childbirth. The Lord said, “This is the reason for your deep fear and resistance to hospitalization, and I am healing you.” God is not just interested in healing our physical bodies, He’s interested in healing our whole persons. He’s interested in healing every emotional wound so that we can truly say, “It is well with my soul.” The path to healing this wound may have taken 17 years. But it’s been such a great release, and I’m grateful to be back to close this chapter. That said baby boy turns 17 next week! “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭11‬:‭2‬ ‭ Had the privilege of making this encouragement cake last week. It’s a prayer we as parents can pray over our children. Blessings!
