Sincere, profound gratitude to all who expressed their best wishes on the occasion of my humble birthday. As many of you know, I don’t really commemorate my birthdays. Not only haven’t I really done anything to contribute to my birth, but given my age and thus the staggering number of birthdays that have taken place, they do tend to become a tad bit repetitive. Moreover, the older I become, the less I think I deserve any such attention. And that’s the truth. But, yes, I am old now. I am firmly entrenched in Neil Young territory, so to speak: I am ancient, my hair is white and thinning, I’ve grown a scruffy beard, I am grumpy and opinionated, I still don’t fit in and far too often still loudly rebel, and some right-wing musicians wish me dead due to my stance. I’ve done ok then, and the young me at the beginning of Hellhammer in 1982 would likely have felt relieved that the old me hasn’t mellowed a bit. It shan’t be long now. But all that has been granted to me up to this point I owe to you all, unconditionally. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
