Have you ever asked or wondered “Does neuroplasticity REALLY work 🧠? It sounds too good to be true.” My answer is always an immediate “YES!” Here’s 5️⃣ things you need to know about neuroplasticity + some tips on how to implement them! 1️⃣ Neuroplasticity is the ability of our brain to strengthen our neural pathways (or find brand new pathways). When this happens, our muscles then get stronger, and mobility is easier. 2️⃣ It occurs in everyone with MS, regardless of our age... 3️⃣ But it can take longer as we get older. 4️⃣ It can take anywhere from a few months to 2 years to see improved strength & mobility from neuroplasticity-based exercises. 5️⃣ The best way to get neuroplasticity working is to repeat lots of repetitions of a functional exercise with focused attention. This means that if you have a goal of walking with better quality/tripping less 🚶♀️… ...practice at least ONE (or more) exercise that’s required for walking — like marching or leg kicks. Do as many good quality repetitions as you can throughout the day, making sure you have focused attention on each repetition!
