You may have heard there’s a lot of rowing in our FLAGSHIP and HWPO 60 programs…and it’s true. 5x CrossFit Games champ @mathewfras used rowing as a benchmark for his fitness throughout his career. It was one of the first weaknesses he hammered until it became a STRENGTH. Now, all our #HARDWORKERS get to experience the same transformation on the erg. We caught up with coach @jakemarconi on some rowing technique tips you can apply TODAY: ✖️ Maintain tension on the handle and keep the chain straight — this really adds up over the course of several pulls. ✖️ As you drive out of the machine, move your hips and shoulders at the same rate. Moving your body together (not an exaggerated back angle) maximizes stroke efficiency. ✖️ Reach into the machine, while maintaining tension in the upper back. Get that handle as forward as it can go to get every inch out of the stroke, but keep your connection with the machine (avoiding a ‘jolt’). These cues take practice and persistence, especially under fatigue, but can be game-changing for your rowing performance.
