And when it comes to climbing with engaged or disengaged shoulders (largely driven by your lats), most of us have a natural tendency. . . **especially if someone told you to always climb with straight arms when you were first learning how to climb… . . Some examples of when climbing as engaged as possible is helpful… ✨when you are in a roof ✨when you are pacing and want to climb faster ✨when you want to catch a deadpoint without letting the rest of your body swing out from under you . . But there are times when letting your shoulder disengage can be helpful too… ✨at really big resting holds/positions ✨when the sloper can only be held when you are as low as possible on it . .
