#UmbilicalCordTraining with the Piggy. 🐽 It’s been quite the journey with this little one. Learning and understanding her communications while creating a language the two of can effectively use to communicate with one another had been a wild trip and lesson in presence, energy, and intention. Y’all, Piglet is AMAZING. She’s also a psycho great white land shark, AKA, the white debo. If left off leash and up to her own devices, #PigletTheBlindAndDeafCorgi would be running around, causing mayhem. She loves to chew on anything she can get her mouth on, can sense where certain dogs are and will talk shit to them, and can literally teach a masterclass on herding and chomping on ankles and feet. Not being able to see or hear anything, all she can do is sense things and for sensitive dogs that only sense and feel, the world is A LOT. Imagine an autistic individual that’s in sensory overload - that’s what Piglet experiences. Without guidance and direction to stay calm while she feels all that, she would lunge, bark, go into spins - and all that can turn into a neurotic behaviors that no one wants. That is not a state of mind we want to foster. To combat all that and give her protection, direction, and guidance, that’s where the leash comes in. It limits her from going off into another room on her own. It’s available for me to give her leash pressure to ask her to sit or relax and lay down. It’s there as an umbilical cord for me to pass along my calming breaths. Umbilical cord training has so many benefits and gives full control in the house as the house rules are being taught and learned, and as responses are being conditioned. If your doggo (seeing, blind, and/or deaf!) is out of control in the house, jumping on your furniture, chewing on things they shouldn’t have their mouths on, terrorizing guests, or are getting into mischief and dodging you and your corrections, try using the leash. The leash is such a useful and valuable tool that does way more than just take your dog for a walk. 🐾 #LeashTraining #LeashUseInTheHouse #TuesdayTrainingTip #TrainingTips #RulesAndBoundaries #DogPsychology #BlindDeafCorgi #DoubleMerle #DoubleMerleCorgi #IrresponsibleBreeding.
